2 robbers injured, four held in ‘gunfight’ with RAB

Two robbers were injured and four others arrested in a ‘gunfight’ with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Dhaka Garden Ekata Housing in the city’s Mohammadpur area on Tuesday.
The injured robbers were identified as Helal, 35, and Siraj Sikdar, 55, said Lt Colonel Iftekharul Mabud, Commanding Officer the RAB-2.The four arrested men are Rasheduzzaman alias Sumon, 22, Mokhles alias Nure Alam, 18, Nur Mohammad Ali, 20, and Abdul Wahab alias Sumon, 19.
“On secret information, RAB went to the spot to challenge suspected robbers when they were taking preparation to commit robbery around 2:30 am. At one stage, robbers initiated firing which triggered RAB to retaliate. As a result, two robbers were injured in the gunfight,” the RAB official said. The two bullet-hit robbers were, later, sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), he said.
Helal and Siraj are accused in several cases filed with Fatullah Police Station in Narayanganj and Keraniganj Police Station, he added.
The RAB picked up four robbers and seized a foreign pistol, two magazines, two bullets, and three knives, and a drill machine on the spot, the CO said.
