2 panels to probe medicine recovery at Satkhira hospital

Two probe panels have been formed to look into the recovery of huge medicines from under the ground on the Satkhira Medical College Hospital premises.
A total of 10 sacks of medicines were found under the ground near the septic tank of the hospital canteen on Saturday afternoon after excessive rainfall washed away lose soil over them making the sacks visible. Deputy Commissioner SM Mostafa Kamal said a five-member probe body, led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Bodiuzzaman, was formed on Sunday and it was asked to submit its report within seven working days.
Superintendent of Satkhira Medical College Hospital Dr Shahjahan Ali said they constituted a three-member investigation committee with Dr Ruhul Kuddus of the Urology department as its head to look into the medicine recovery and the committee was directed to place its report within the next seven days.
The recovered medicines bear no government seal and these are not even from hospital’s medicine store as well, he claimed.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Mostafizur Rahman said the recovered medicines will be brought under police custody once the two probe bodies visit the spot.
Currently, Ansar members were guarding the medicines on the spot, he said.
