Two outlawed party members were killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion members at Jugnihat in Sadar upazila early Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Fazlu Driver and Uzzal, members of banned Pubo Banglar Communist Party. Further details about them were not available. Tipped off that a group of outlaws were holding a meeting at Jugnihat, an elite force team conducted a drive there around 1am,
said commander of Rab-12 Tangail unit additional police super Mohiuddin Faruki.
However, the outlawed party members opened fire on the law enforcers forcing them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight. Fazlu and Uzzal were found lying dead after the gun battle that also left two Rab members injured, he said. The Rab team also recovered a revolver and a pistol from the spot.
