Police are still in dark about the whereabouts of four missing boys, including two students of North South University (NSU).
The boys, aged between 22 and 25, went missing soon after taking dinner at a restaurant beside the North South University campus in city’s Banani area on December 1.
Of them, Safayet Hossain and Zayen Hossain Khan Pavel are enrolled at North South University. Sujon is known to have been working at a private firm in Banani. But no specific information has been discovered about Mehedi.
Mostak Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner (Gulshan Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said, “Police are investigating the incident whether they have been picked up by miscreants or went missing willingly.”
This is a mysterious incidental as nobody demanded ransom money from their families after passing of five days, the police official said.
He expressed his suspicion that they might have joined to the extremist groups as per their own thoughts.
Sohel Rana, Sub-Inspector of Banani Police Station and also the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, told The New Nation on Monday night, “Safayet and Pavel went to a restaurant in Banani area for dinner on December 1. They were joined by Sujon there. After their meal, the three friends left and have not seen since then.”
“We could not find any information about their whereabouts. Now the investigation is ongoing to trace them,” the IO said.
Earlier, missing victim Pavel’s father Rasel Khan filed a case with Banani police station in this connection.
According to sources, the missing youths were active on their facebook since November 20, 23 and 24 respectively while no update has been seen in their facebook accounts after their missing.
