Two leaders of Muktijuddho Mancha were detained by the Decetive Branch (DB) on Monday following the attack on Ducsu Vice President Nurul Haque Nur and others.
They are Al Mamun, General Secretary of Muktijuddho Mancha and Yeasir Arafat Turjo, general secretary of DU unit of Muktijuddho Moncho were the two detainees, Abdul Baten, additional commissioner of DB of police of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the matter.
Al Mamun’s has no studentship of DU. He has already passed from DU. He was the ex-student of Political Science department and the deputy Muktijuddho affairs secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League ex central committee (Sohag, Jakir committee).
Another detainee Yeasir Arafat Turjo is a student of Bangla Department of DU.
He also the Organisatioal secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League, DU unit.
On Sunday Nur and around 29 of his supporters were injured in the attack carried out by activists of a faction of Muktijuddho Moncho, mostly comprised of Chhatra League men after BCL DU chapter President Sanjit Chandra Das and Ducsu Assistant General Secretary and BCL DU chapter General Secretary Saddam Hussain threatened Nur with dire consequences if he didn’t leave his office.
Of them, 14 were released after primary treatment, and six others, including Nur, were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
This is the second time Nur came under attack from Mancha activists.
Later, DU Vice Chancellor Md Akhtaruzzaman and Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani, Awami League Leader Jahangir Kabir Nanak, AFM Bahauddin Nasim and BNP leader Habibunnbi Khan Sohel visited Nur and five others, who are receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
