Police arrested two alleged muggers from the city’s Bashundhara Residential Area on Friday and recovered a private car used for committing crime, two knives and 22 mobile phone sets from their possession.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team from Bhatara Police Station, led by its sub-inspector M Nazrul Islam, conducted a drive in front of Tenement block near Apollo Hospitals at about 7:30am.
During the drive, the law enforcers arrested two members of a mugging gang-Ruhul Amin, 25, and Robi Sikder, 26 – along with a private car, two knives and 22 stolen mobile phone sets.
During interrogation, the arrested revealed that they had long been involved in mugging. They also said they had been earlier arrested several times on the same charge and wanted in a number of cases filed with different police stations.
