2 more Tejturi Bazar fire victims die

Two more hardware shop fire victims succumbed to their injuries on Friday afternoon in the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), raising the death toll to three.
The deceased have been identified as Ibrahim Khalil (35) and Shafiul Azam (48). Khalil was manager of the shop while Shafiul was a IPS shop owner at Tejturi Bazar, Tejgoan, Dhaka.
The fire broke out in a hardware shop at Tejturi Bazaar, Tejgoan on Thursday noon in which 11 people
were injured. The amount of loss could not be known instantly.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital burn unit Resident Medical Officer Partha Shankar Pal confirmed the death news. He said, Ibrahim Khalil was admitted with 91 pc burns and Shafiul Azam with 95 pc burns.
Sources said, deceased Shafiul Azam were in the shop when fire broke out. He was seriously injured. Earlier on Thursday night, van-pullar Abdul Latif (50) died at about 1.00 am.
Hospital sources said that Abdul Latif was admitted to the Burn unit of the hospital with 96 percent burn injures on Thursday evening. The remaining eight injured have been identified as shop owner Mahmudul Hasan (38), shop employee Motaleb (14), van driver Jahirul Islam (60), World University students Shammi Akter Jhilik (19), and Rifat Ara Yasmin (19), Mohammad Maksud (36), Uzzal, (24) and Zakir Hossain (38), a security guard of Alauddin Garments housed in the building. The injured were admitted to DMCH Mazharul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Tejgaon Police Station said the fire broke out at Mahfuz Sewing and Service in Tejturi Bazaar area around 2:15pm. On information, three fire fighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame around 3:30pm. Kamruzzaman Manik, one of the managers of the shop said, a drum loaded with 200 litres of phenyle was brought to the shop at 2pm. He opened the cover of the drum. Later, some chemicals came out of the drum and sprinkled on the shop floor.
