2 more private varsities okayed

The government has approved setting up of two new private universities.
With these the number of private universities in Bangladesh will rise to 99.
The approval has been given amid questions over the standard of education in the existing private universities.
The two new universities are Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah in Khulna and Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology in Rajshahi.
Secondary and Higher Education Division’s Additional Secretary Md Mohiuddin Khan said that a circular had already been issued in this connection.
Interestingly eight more universities are awaiting approval, said an
education ministry official.
Dhaka Ahsania Mission President Kazi Rafiqul Alam is the founder of the two new universities.
The government meanwhile, is actively working to approve eight more universities, ministry source said.
The names of the universities are- Bandarban University to be set up by State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing .
Shah Mokhdum University of Shamsul Alam, Rowshan Ershad International University Bangladesh, Singapore University of Bangladesh of HM Golam Reza, Apollo University of Science and Technology of MP Shamsul Alam Bhuiyan, South Region University of Chief whip ASM Feroz, International Standard University of AKM Mosharraf Hussain, Sanghanayek Sradmananda Mahathero University of Ateesh Dipankar of Suddhananda Mahathero.
