Two expatriates Bangladeshi were killed by miscreants at Johannesburg in South Africa on Wednesday.
One of the victims is identified as Alauddin Jewel 30, son of Khaja Mainuddin of Baliakandi village under Senbag upazila of the district. The identity of another victim could not yet be known.
Khaja Mainuddin, father of Jewel, told that after passing the HSC examination in 2004 Jewel went to South Africa.
Jewel started a business in a Johannesburg market with a partner and they went to sleep after closing their shop at night.
Md. Kamal, a friend of Jewel from Johannesburg, informed Mainuddin over mobile phone that in the early hours of Wednesday some miscreants entered into their shop breaking the window.
The miscreants demanded money from them but they refused. At one stage the miscreants shot at them, causing their deaths. Police recovered the bodies and sent them to the hospital for completion of necessary formalities. The bodies are expected to reach to Bangladesh on Saturday, Jewel’s father said.
