Two out of 40 passengers became missing after trawler carrying bridegroom and relatives capsized in Meghna River at Matiala under Hizla upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
The missing two were identified as Idris Majhi, 80, grandfather, and Mahinur Begum, 31, maternal aunt of the bridegroom. Golam Sarwar, Hizla police station officer in charge, said a reserved trawler carrying 40 passengers of a bridegroom party was going to participate in the marriage ceremony of Saiful Majhi,22, son of Ramij Majhi from Shangkarpasha to Kakuria, home of the bride.
At about 3:00 pm Wednesday the trawler capsized in Meghna River following a sudden gusty wind created at Matiala area of the upazila, said Abdul Malek, one of the trawler passengers.
