2 missile warships arrives at Ctg Naval Jetty

Bangladesh Nav procures two new missile warships ‘Swadhinata’ and ‘Prottoy’, which can carry modern anti-aircraft cannon, anti-ship missile and attack submarine.
Chittagong region commander Rear Admiral Akhtar Habib and other high officials received these Chinese made warships, which reached Chittagong Naval Jetty on Sunday (January 10).
Beside wartime, these ships will be used to prevent intrusion, smuggling, rescue mission and secure fisheries, natural resources and blocks for oil-gas search.
The length of these war ships is 90 meters long and breadth 11.4 meters. Sources said the contruction of these ships started on January 7,2015 at a Chinese shipyard and after 35 months , these ships handed over to Bangladesh Navy. These ships started their journey from China Kuingdong Port on December 26 last and reached chittagong Naval jetty after 15 days cruise .
A press release issued by Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) department Assistant Director Sayda Tapasi Rabeya Lopa said about the regard.
