Staff Reporter :Two minor girls died and four others injured when a small boat sank at Kadam Ali Jheel (water body) under Mugda Police Station in the capital on Tuesday morning.The victims have been identified as Marjina, 11, and Sonia, 14, both are students of Haider Ali High School in the area.The injured girls were admitted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), police said. Nasir Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Mugda Police Station said that the victims along with four others boarded a small boat to cross Kadam Ali Jheel at Manda.But the boat suddenly capsized at around 11:30 am, the OC said.Local people rescued the passengers and rushed them to nearby Mugda General Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared Marjina and Sonia dead, the police official said.The bodies of the victims were handed over to their relatives, he said.
