Bagerhat Correspondent :
Two cousins named Mahina (4.5) and Karima (4) met their tragic ends when they were drowned together in a ditch, adjacent to their house in the village Choto Andharmanik within Maghia Union Parishad under Kachua Upazila in Bagerhat district on Sunday in the evening, according to a delayed report received here. Mahina was the daughter of one Akbor Khan and Karima was the daughter of younger brother Nijam Khan of the village.
Pankaj Chandra Adhikari, UP Chairman of Maghia disclosed, on the day in the evening the ill-fated cousins were playing in the courtyard of their house. But at one stage they crossed the boundary of the courtyard and went to the bank of a ditch, adjacent to the courtyard to play there and somehow both of them slipped into the ditch and were drowned jointly in it without the knowledge of the inmates of the house. The twilight was over, but they did not return home. Then their relatives searched the area and at last found them into the ditch. They were recovered from there and rushed to Kachua Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared them dead.
