2 million IT professionals by 2021 in the country

The government has been working to turn two million educated youths into IT professionals by 2021 in the process of developing skilled human resources to carry forward the journey toward Digital Bangladesh.
“The number of IT professionals currently stands at 7 lakh in the country,” said People’s Perspective Specialist of Access to Information (a2i) Programme of the Prime Minister’s Office Naimuzzaman Mukta at an ICT Career Camp held in Panchagarh on Thursday.
The Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project of Bangladesh Computer Council under Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division organised the camp with assistance of Interspeed Activation Limited.
Director General of the ICT Division Banamali Bhowmick attended the daylong camp as the chief guest with Panchagarh Deputy Commissioner Amal Krishna Mandal in the chair.
Component Team leader of LICT Project Sami Ahmed, founder of Women in Digital Achia Khaleda Nila, E & Y representative Surya Narayan and Group Operation Manager of Interspeed Activation Limited Shahadat Hossain Shamim addressed, among others.
Over 500 degree and masters level students of different colleges of Panchagarh participated in the camp arranged at Panchagarh Government auditorium with a view to build career of the educated youths in the IT sector through training on ICT.
Naimuzzaman Mukta said that the ICT Career Camp was being organized throughout the country to turn the educated youths into skilled human resources through properly educating them on information technology befitting for the competitive 21st century.
“The present government through the LICT Project has also been providing high quality and world-class IT training to generate 45,000 skilled human resources as world-class IT professionals,” he said.
