Two labourers were killed and another was injured after a chunk of a hill collapsed on them while they were cutting the hill at Pukuria village under Banshkhali upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Mir Kamal, 32, son of Nurul Islam and Mohammad Liyakat, 27, son of Abdur Rahman, both hailing from Charati village under Satkania upazila of the district while the injured was – Halim-ur-Rashid. Swapon Kumar Majumdar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Banshkhali police station, said two labourers died on the spot and another was critically injured as a large portion of a hill collapsed on them while the labourers were cutting the hill at Dakkinpara area of Pukuria village around 2pm.
