Two persons including a policeman were killed on Saturday afternoon being crashed by a speeding bus on Hanif Flyover near Jaikali Mandir under Wari Police Station in the capital.
The deceased were Akhtar Hossain alias Akhtaruzzaman Babu, 37 and Mofizul Islam, 40. Akhtar used to work at US-Bangla Medical while Mofizul was a community policeman.
It is known to that a Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Joinpur Paribahan’ coming from Narayanganj hit hard a Gulistan-bound motorcycle from the rear side on Hanif Flyover. Being hit by the speeding bus, the motorist fell on a nearby security guard with his motorcycle. Just at that time, the bus fled the place crushing both of them on the flyover, leaving Akhtar dead on the spot, while critically injured Mofizul died on his way to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH)’s emergency department.
DMCH police outpost in-charge Inspector Bacchu Mia said the bodies of the deceased would be handed over to their respective families after the postmortem.
Wari police said the killer bus of ‘Joinpur Paribahan’ was seized.
