At least two persons were killed in separate road crashes in Dhaka and Sylhet district on Sunday.
In Dhaka, a NGO service holder died when a speeding bus rammed him over the flyover at Dhaka’s Kalshi.
Deceased Sejan Shahriar Sourov, 28, worked at Teach for Bangladesh in Uttara. He was also a
former student of Jahangirnagar University.
Sourav was on his motorcycle over the flyover when a Bashumoti Paribahan bus hit him at 9:30am, Md Asaduzzaman, Sub-inspector of Cantonment Police Station confirmed the news to the media.
Ahmed Jewel, a friend of Sourov, who was present on the spot, said that the victim fell from his bike when the bus punched him and the bus dragged him few yards for a while.
After the incident some locals took him to Kurmitola General Hospital where the doctors announced him dead. Police seized the bus, but both driver and helper disappeared.
The wife of the victim filed a case at Cantonment Police Station. The body was handed over to the family members without an autopsy.
In Sylhet, a walker was killed in a road mishap over Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Dakshin Surma upazila of Sylhet district on Sunday.
But identity of the deceased could not be recognized instantly, said Khairul Fazal, Officer in-Charge of Dakshin Surma Police Station.
A bus of Ena Paribahan ran over the victim at Nazirabazar around 11:00am when he was crossing road, leaving him dead on the spot, the OC added.
However, the body was sent to Sylhet M A G Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue.
