Two women were killed in a road accident at Chunati area of Lohagara upazila in Chattogram Monday morning.
The deceased are Sanowara Begum, 19, of Ramu area in Cox’s Bazar, and Runa Akter, 18, of Chakaria area in Cox’s Bazar, said officials.
The accident took place at about 8:40am in front of Forest Range Office at Chunati when a Chattogram-bound bus of Marsa Paribahan and a dumper truck collided head on, said inspector Mohammad Abdur Rob, officer-in-charge of Dohazari highway police station.
Two female passengers of the bus were killed on the spot, the police officer said.
The vehicles were seized but their drivers managed to flee from the scene, he added.
Police also recovered the dead bodies and sent them to a local hospital morgue for autopsy.
The injured bus passengers were to the Lohagara upazila health complex for treatment.
