2 killed in Jessore, Natore

Two persons, including an Awami League leader, were killed by armed assailants in Jessore and Natore on Tuesday, report our correspondents.
Assailants shot dead the AL man at the Khaldar Road crossing in the Jessore district town in the morning.
The victim was identified as Monjurul Islam Monju, 45, son of Yusuf Ali Biswas from Hamidpur in Sadar upazila. He was the Vice President of Awami Bastuhara League, Jessore district.
Police said that a gang of miscreants ambushed
Monju when he was going to the district town by a three-wheeler at about 4pm. They sprayed bullets on him and fled the scene.
Some pedestrians took Monju to Jessore General Hospital where doctors declared him dead. Jessore Model thana OC Sikder Akkas Ali confirmed the matter.
In another incident, a farmer was shot dead by unidentified miscreants at Boraigram upazila in Natore in the small hours of Tuesday.
The dead was identified as Mottaleb Sheikh, 52.
Police said that three youths riding on a bike went to Mottaleb Sheikh’s house at dead of night and called him. They shot him when he came out of the house, leaving him dead on the spot. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar hospital.
