A fire broke out in a workshop in Jessore from a truck, which was being repaired, leaving two people killed.
The incident was reported late Monday from the southwestern city’s Kismat Nowapara area, said the fire service.
“We rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a truck catching fire. Two bodies were recovered from the truck, which was parked in front of the workshop,” said Jessore Fire Service Assistant Director Paritosh Chandra Kundu.
The victims have been identified as brothers Piklu, 34 and Ruhul Amin, 32, who ran the workshop.
“The fire quickly spread throughout the workshop and nearby vehicles. It took eight fire-fighting units around two hours to put it out.”
He said they suspect inflammable material inside the truck caused the fire.
A witness said that the truck caught fire following a blast.
“Welders were working on the truck, when the fire broke out after a loud explosion. It spread to the nearby vehicles and the workshop soon after,” local resident Tutul told bdnews24.com.
