Top terror of Banskhali and his brother were killed in a reported ‘gunfight’ with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Saral village under Banskhali upazila of the district on Friday. The deceased were identified as Jafar Member, 48, and his younger brother Khalil Ahmed, 45, son of Joynal Abedin, of Saral village, reports RAB-7.. Assistant Superintendent of Chattogram Police of RAB-7 Masukur Rahman said, on a tip-off, a team of the elite force carried out a drive in the area around 12 pm to arrest the terrorists as they gathered there for committing offence.
But, the alleged criminals opened fire on the law enforcers forcing them to retaliate in self-defense, he said. “The RAB-men recovered the bodies of Jafar and his brother after the gunfight,” Masukur said, adding that the elite force also recovered eight different kinds of local and foreign-made firearms, huge bullets and knives from the spot.
