2 killed in Ctg road crash

Two vegetable traders were killed and two others injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Sitakunda upazila here early Monday.
Police said the accident took place around 3:45 am when a Chittagong-bound vegetable-leaden truck coming from Chandina of Comilla hit a stationed truck in Shitalpur area, leaving two traders dead on the spot and driver and helper injured. The bodies of the two deceased – Abdur Rab, 52, hailing from Barura upazila of Comilla and Siddikur Rahman, 45, hailing from Chandina upazila – were sent to morgue for autopsy.
2 drug peddlers held in Sitakunda: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested two alleged drug peddlers along with 1,400 bottles of Phensedyl from Boro Darogarhat area in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong on Monday night.
The arrestees were identified as Md Nur Alam, 50, son of late Edrish Ali of Katalia village of Feni district and Md Mehedi Hasan Bappy, 19, son of Md Kabir Hossain of Jorarganj thana of Chittagong district.
Mimtanur Rahman, Senior Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-7, said on secret information a team of elite force conducted a drive in the area around 11:00 pm and arrested them along with 1,400 bottles of Phensedyl.
The elite force also seized a truck.
A case was filed with Sitakunda Police Station under narcotics control act in this connection.
