2 killed in Cox’s Bazar, Cumilla ‘gunfights’

Staff Reporter:Two robbers alleged were killed in separate ‘gunfights’ with law enforcers in Cox’s Bazar and Cumilla early on Monday.
One of them is Nurul Amin, 43, a Rohingya man who was killed in a gunfight between robbers and Rapid Action Battalion members at Pashchim Leda Nurali para in Hnila union around 3:00am, according to RAB officials.
Lieutenant Md Mirza Shahed Mahtab,camp commander of Rab-15, Teknaf said that different types of guns, cartridges and mobile phone were were recovered from the scene.
Two RAB members, Lance Nayek Azharul Islam and Sipahi Md Sohel, were injured in the gunfight, said the camp commander.
After the robbers managed to flee the scene, the Rab men found bullet-hit Nurul on the spot and sent him to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex, where he later died.
The two injured Rab members were discharged from hospital after receiving primary treatment.
In Cumilla, a suspected robber was killed in a gunfight with police at Poschim Singho in Burichang upazila around 2:00am.
Mojammel Haq, Officer in-charge of Burichang Police Station confirmed it.
The deceased, Majarul Islam, 35, from Debidwar upazila, was a highway robber who was involved with the murder of two businessmen that took place at Kangsonagar on Cumilla-Sylhet highway and Dhaka-Chattogram highway recently, according to the OC’s statement.
