Two people were killed and 15 others injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over building a bridge at Basiakhauri village in South Sunamganj upazila on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Arju Miah,65, and Abul Kalam,45, of the village.
Sub-inspector of South Sunamganj Police Station Mukit Chowdhury said a quarrel took place at about 4:00 pm between two groups -one led by Moshahid Khan and another by Nur Ali Miah –over building a bridge in the area.
At one stage, both the groups, equipped with sharp weapons, attacked each other, trigging a clash that left Arju Miah and Abul Kalam dead on the spot and 15 others injured.
