2 killed in city road crash

Two motorcyclists were killed when a truck knocked down their bike in front of Mercantile Bank in the city’s Nadda area early Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Abul Hasnat Sohag,30, son of Mohammad Selim, a resident of Maheshpur village in Bakerganj upazila of Barisal and Mirazul Islam,37, son of Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Garfa village in Mollarhat upazila of Bagerhat. Sohag used to live at Post Officer Goli while Mirazul in Jagannathpur at Bhatara.
Sources at the Bhatara Police Station said the truck hit the motorcycle carrying the two friends-Sohag and Mirajul-in the area while they were going to a relative’s house from Uttara at about 4:05 am, leaving Sohag dead on the spot and Mirazul seriously injured. Mirazul was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead. Informed, police recovered the bodies and sent those to DMCH morgue for autopsy.
Police also seized the truck but its driver managed to flee the scene. A case was filed.
