Two persons including an elderly man were killed in separate road accidents in the city’s Jatrabari and Uttara areas early yesterday.
Of the deceased, one was identified as Idris Ali, 50, a roadside vendor, son of Fazlu Khalifa of Syedpur under Charfashion Upazila of Bhola.
A vehicle hit Idris around 2 am at Jatrabari intersection while he was crossing the road, police said.
He was rushed to emergency unit of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the on duty physicians pronounced him dead.
In another incident, an unidentified minor boy aged about 12 was killed when a vehicle ran over him near foot-over bridge at Uttara around 12 am, police and locals said.
His body was sent to the DMCH morgue for postmortem. Filing of cases is underway.
