Two persons were burnt to death and two others received injuries when a cylinder containing helium gas exploded at that time of filling balloons in the city’s Jatrabari on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Anis, 40, and Emon, 33, hailing from Sunamganj district.
The two injured men were admitted to the
Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in a critical condition, police said.
Anisur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Jatrabari Police Station (OC) said that the incident occurred at Sheikhdi Bot Tola in Kajla of Jatrabari around 12:15pm.
“They used to sell balloons in the city. The cylinder exploded when balloons were being filled,” the police official said.
The bodies were sent to the DMCH morgue for autopsies, the OC said.
