UNB, Madaripur :
Two people were killed and eight others went missing as a bus plunged into a roadside pond at Pantapara on Dhaka-Barisal highway in Kalkini upazila early Saturday.
The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed.
Officer-in-Charge of Dasa Police Station Emdadul Haque said the Barisal-bound bus fell into the roadside pond as its driver lost control over the steering around 4.00am.
Around 30 people came out of the bus while
unknown number of passengers remains stranded inside the bus, the OC said.
On information, firefighters rushed to the spot and recovered two bodies trapped inside the bus.
The firefighters and the law enforcers are working to salvage the bus.
