2 killed as bus collides with train

At least two people were killed and four others were injured as a bus collided with a moving train in Gazipur’s Kaliakair upazila.
The incident took place in Shonakhali area of the upazila around 4:30am on Saturday, confirmed Kaliakair police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monowar Hossain Chowdhury.
One of the deceased is Masud Rana, 35, and another is a woman who is yet to be identified. Locals took the injured people to Kaliakair Upazila Health Complex after the accident.
Quoting locals, OC Monowar said: “The Dhaka-bound Nilshagar Express train was passing Gazipur’s Kaliakair when a bus collided with it. The train pushed the bus for about half a kilometre before coming to a halt, killing two passengers sitting on the front row seats of the bus on the spot.”
Shahjahan, station master at Joydebpur railway station in Gazipur, said rail link between Dhaka and northern regions of the country resumed after five hours of restoration operation on the rail track.
