Two persons were killed and at least seven others were injured in two separate road mishaps in Chapainawabganj sadar and Shibganj upazilas on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Soeb Ali, 65, son of Jafar Uddin of Ramkistapur in Chapainawabganj town and Mofijul Islam, 40, son of late Khoka of Chaitanyapur under Shibganj upazila of the district.
Police and local sources said, a Bholahat bound passenger bus from Chapinawabganj dashed against a roadside tree hitting a number of people at Shantimore area in the town at around 8-30 am. Seriously injured Soeb succumbed to injuries on the way to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Another accident took place near Ranihati College in Shibganj upazila on the Chapainawabganj-Sonamasjid highway at around 12-30 pm as a truck hit a bhutbhuti, a human hauler injuring Mofijul, a passenger of the bhutbhuti seriously. He was rushed to the Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital but the doctor on duty declared him dead.
