Two passengers were killed and five others critically injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a microbus on Saturday.
The tragic road accident occurred on Dhaka-Aricha highway near the Baliapur Bus Stand, Savar at 2:45 am.
The deceased have been identified as Ataur Rahman (50) and Golam Murtaza (48).
The bodies were handed over to their relatives at noon after post mortem.
Ataur is the son of Guljar Hossain and Murtaza is son of late Zaha Box. Both were
the inhabitants of Sirajganj Sadar Upazila.
The critically injured five passengers were admitted to the Enam Medical College and Hospital at Savar. Savar Model Police Station SI Farhad Hossain confirmed the news and said that the deceased and the injured were passengers of the microbus.
They were on their way back to Sirajganj Sylhet, the SI said quoting the locals. The microbus was smashed in the accident.
Savar Model Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Shafiqul Islam informed that the truck fled from the spot.
