Two people were killed and four others were injured in separate incidents in the district on yesterday morning.
The victims were identified as Azizur Rahman, 47, son of Fazlul Hoque hailing from Mirpur area of Dhaka and CNG taxi driver Mofizur Rahman,34, son of Abul Kashem, a resident of Mongolkhali area under Raozan thana in the district.
Police said a micro-bus carrying tourists collided headed on with a covered van at Hasondondi area on Chittagong-Cox’s bazaar road under Chandanaish upazila that left five people including Azizur Rahman injured.
Locals brought them to Chandanaish upazila health complex but the attending doctors declared Azizur Rahman dead after admission. The other injured persons are out of danger, police added.
In the second incident, local people found the body of a CNG taxi driver Mofiz hanging from a tree branch at Ramzan Ali hat area under Raozan upazila of the district at 7am today.
Police said it is a mysterious death and the cause of the death could be ascertained after postmortem.
