Two children drowned in a pond at South Sripur village in Kaliganj upazila on Friday morning.
The deceased were identified as Nuruzzaman’s daughter Razia Parveen, 6, and her cousin Tamanna Sultana, 3, daughter of Azgar Ali of the village.
Witnesses said the two kids drowned while trying to collect mangoes from the pond at about 7 am.
After a frantic search local people recovered their bodies.
Golam Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station, confirmed the incident.
A pal of gloom descended the area following the incident.
