Two children drowned in separate incidents in Munshiganj and Magura on Monday.
In Munshiganj, a boy drowned in a pond at Baroipara village in Sirajdikhan upaizla on Monday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Ratul Sheikh, 6, son of Mozammel Sheikh of Khilgaon Dakkhinpara village in the upazila.
Family sources said Ratul along with his family came on a visit to his grandfather’s house. On the fateful day, Ratul drowned as he slipped into a pond unnoticed. Earlier, giving Ratul a bath, his father put the boy on the bank of the pond.
In Magura, Srabani Khatun, 4, daughter of Ujjal Mia of Telipukur village in Mohammadpur upazila. drowned in a pond on Monday afternoon.
Police quoting family sources said Srabani slipped into the water while playing beside the pond in the afternoon.
Later, she was rushed to a local hospital where the doctors declared her dead.
