Two kids died in a boat capsize as it was hit by a sand-laden trawler at Turag River near Diyabari Launch Terminal in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital on Sunday night.
The deceased were identified as Sonia Akhtar, 10, Urmila Sarkar, 11, said Assistant Officer of Dhaka Fulbaria Fire Service Shahjahan Mia.
Fire service staff recovered them early Monday and continuing the search for another missing child in the river, he said.
“A boat carrying seven passengers capsized in the area around 10:00pm while it was returning from Mirpur. Several passengers managed to swimming to the shore, but the, three children went missing. On information, Mirpur fire service rushed to the spot and after hours of searching they recovered bodies of two children early Monday” he added.
