Two journalists received injuries when a microbus owned by a Jubo League leader slammed their motorcycle carrying the injured men in front of High Court (HC) on Tuesday afternoon.
The injured men are Abu Hena Rasel, former Senior Reporter of the
Daily Kalerkantha, and Jahangir Alam, Crime Reporter of United News of Bangladesh (UNB). They were admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
Jahangir Alam said the microbus hit their motorbike from behind near the Kadam Fowara when they going to Police Headquarters.
“When we fell down, there was no vehicle behind us. If there is any, we must die,” he said.
“After slamming, the men in the microbus rushed to us and rebuked us. They demanded compensation from us putting all the blame on us. At one stage, they tried to take our motorcycle away. Later, police saved us and seized the microbus,” he claimed.
The journalists came to know that the microbus was of a Jubo League leader, but could not know his name.
Jahangir said after the incident, a number of Jubo league men came to the office of Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh to search for him.
