2 ‘JMB men’ held in Rangpur, Lalmonirhat

Members of Rapid Action Battalion in separate drives on Saturday night arrested two suspected members of militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in Rangpur and Lalmonirhat.
The arrestees were identified as Saiduzzaman Babu alias Amir Hamza, 46, son of late Osman Goni of Baniapara Rasulganj village in Patgram upazila, and Talim Pradhan, 25, son of late Mobarak Ali Pradhan of Rasulganj Sahebdanga village in the same upazila of Lalmonirhat.
Acting on information, a team of Rab-13 conducted a drive at Khalpara in Rangpur city and arrested Amir Hamza along with a foreign pistol loaded with two bullets, a magazine, two mobile phone sets and 32 books on jihad, said commanding officer of Rab-13 Additional DIG Mozammel Haque at a press briefing on Sunday afternoon.
Based on his information, they conducted another drive in Patgram Bazar area and arrested Talim Pradhan and recovered jihadi books, leaflets and mobile phone sets from his possession, he said.
Mozammel claimed that the arrestees are active members of JMB and they had planned to carry out subversive acts in the greater Rangpur region.
