Jessore Correspondent :Two supporters of Jubo League, the youth wing of the ruling Awami League, were killed in factional clash at Benapole in Jessore on Saturday, police sources said. The deceased were identified as Imran Ali (27) from the district’s Shibnathpur Baroputa village and Lalon (26) from Uttar Baroputa village.They were supporters of two rival groups of Jubo League, Putkhali union unit.Rivals hurled a bomb on Imran at Baroputa around 10.00 am, leaving him dead on the spot. Apurba Hassan, Officer-in-Charge of Benapole Police Station, told The new Nation.Imran was talking with his party men when the attack took place. Half an hour later, supporters of the deceased group, armed with firearms and sharp weapons, attacked their opponents. Lalon received three bullets, one in the head, and fell into a roadside ditch and died shortly, said Apurba.Law enforcers said that the two factions might have locked into a clash over establishing supremacy in the area. Additional policemen were deployed in the area to avert further clash, the police officials added.
