Two activists of Jubo League were killed in separate incidents in Comilla and Mymensingh on Tuesday night and Wednesday.
In Comilla, an activist of the ruling Awami League’s youth wing was hacked to death by miscreants at Tulatali Bazar in Meghna upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Nur Mohammad, 38, and activist of the local unit of Jubo League and son of UP member Osman Miah of Tulatali village.
Locals said, a gang of miscreants blasted some crude bombs in the Tulatali Bazar at around 9am, creating panic among the people.
Later, they hacked Nur Mohammad indiscriminately while he was returning home from the bazaar, leaving him dead on the spot.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Comilla Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Ismail Miah, officer-in-charge of Meghna Police Station, said miscreants might have killed Nur Mohammad over previous enmity.
Police arrested one Nizam for his suspected involvement in the killing.
In Mymensingh, Jubo League man Sharif Ahmed was chopped to death by miscreants at Begunbari Bazar in Sadar upazila on Tuesday night.
Police and witnesses said, a group of miscreants attacked Sharif, a resident of Mirzapur village in the upazila, at about 9pm and chopped him with sharp weapons while he was going to the local market, leaving him injured critically. Sharif died on the way to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Locals said there had been a longstanding enmity between Suruzzaman Khokon and Badal, residents of Mirzapur village near Begunbari Bazar, over the ownership of a piece of land.
As a sequel to the enmity, Badal’s men attacked Sharif, nephew of Suruzzaman Khokon, and killed him.
Fazlul Karim, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said Sharif might have been killed following an altercation over a land-related dispute.
A case was filed in this connection.
