Two prison guards of Jessore jail have been suspended for negligence in their duty after an under-trial prisoner allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the jail on Friday.
The action was taken against Jahurul Islam and Abdul Hamid, guards of the jail. A case was also filed against Habilder Sayeed and prison guards Shukur Ali including Jahurul Islam and Abdul Hamid.
Senior superintendent of Jessore Jail Shajahan said Babu,27, son of Amiruddin of Kharki Rail gate area of Jessore town and an accused in a case under the Women and Children Repression Act, tried to commit suicide by hanging himself from stairs of the jail on Friday morning.
Jail guards rescued him and took him to Jessore Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
