Police arrested two leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami on charges filed for possessing explosive, conducting sabotage acts, and assault on police. The duo was detained, in separate drives, from Sodaha and Kanchana unions of Satkania upazila on Friday night (July 6).
The detainees were identified as Nezam Uddin, 42, son of Yunus of Afzalnagar area under Sodaha Union, Shahadat Hossain, 22, son of Abdur Shafi, from Bakshirkhil area of Kanchana union.
They detainees had stronghold of different areas of Satkania Upazila during Jammat-Shibir’s undeclared countrywide dominion in 2013-14, apart from current lodged cases, Md Rafiqul Hossen, Officer-in-Charge of Satkania Police Station told this reporter.
They were handed over to court in the morning on July 7, OC also said.
