The officers and employees of Chittagong University under the banner of CU Officers, employees Action Parishad observed two hours token strike protesting the vandalism in administrative office and physical torture to a official on Thursday.
The Sangram Parishad observed token strike for two hours from 8 am at railgate square.
The incident of vandalizing the office records and furniture and physical torture occurred on Wednesday in administrative bhaban by the cadres of Chhatra League. Chhatra League cadres and former sports seccrtary of BCL unit Md. Mamun and another Nazim physically tortured Deputy Registrar (Land) Md. Zaker Ahmed on Wednesday in office hour.
Relaiable sources said, these BCL activists belong to supporters of city AL secretary AZM Nasiruddin. It is learnt from a reliable sources of CU that the unwanted incident occurred following the dispute of a land in the CU colony.
Sources said serious altercation about the allotment of CU land occurred and at one stage being agitated these two students ransack the computer and a number of office files in his office and beat him .
Mentionable that BCL cadres Mamun and Nazim earlier in August last year committed similar incident with another Deputy Registrar Nasiruddin.
Meanwhile Pro-VC Iftekharuddin assured that a probe committee will be constituted immediately to submit enquiry report by seven days for exemplary punishment against the alleged, a CU press release said.
