2 houses gutted after gas cylinder explodes in Cumilla

Two houses were reduced to ashes following an accidental fire that originated from gas cylinder pipe inside their premises at Balina village in Brahmanpara upazila on Sunday.
The houses belonged to an expatriate Tajul Islam and his uncle Kazi Golam Rabbani of the village.
Family sources said the fire broke out when Taijul’s wife went to the kitchen to cook for them. As son as she lit the stove, everything seemed to go up in flames in a ball of fure. The fire catches on the leaked pipe of the gas-line suddenly and soon spread to the house next door, burning down houses and valuables of TK 35 lakh worth.
Later, locals managed to douse flame after three hours frantic effort.
On information, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of the upazila, UP chairman Anisur Rahman Bhuyia and Upazila Project Implementation Officer visited the spot and promised to provide government aid the incurred losses.
