The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of police has arrested two suspected members of banned militant outfit Hizbut-Tahrir.
They were arrested from a house in the city’s Banani area on Sunday, ATU ASP (media) Wahida Parveen said in a press release on Monday.
The arrestees have been identified as Khalilur Rahman, 28, and Imran Hasan, 25.
ASP Wahida said that a team of the ATU, acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid in the capital’s Banani area and arrested the two.
A total of six mobile phones were recovered from their possessions, the ASP added.
She said that the arrestees are active members of Hizbut-Tahrir and were in-charge of Dhaka and Gazipur areas.
The arrested members had been conducting various activities including anti-state conspiracies for a long time with an aim of establishing a caliphate style state, she further added.
Wahida said: “Necessary legal action will be taken against them.”
