Police in a drive arrested two people along with 12 fake currency notes amounting to Tk12,000 from Kanitia Bazar in Mohammadpur upazila on Thursday.
The arrestees were identified as Arif Hawladar, 28, son of Kabir Hawladar, and Abdul Hannan, 32, son of Aroj Ali Bepari of Rajoir upazila in Madaripur district.
Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station, said Arif and Hannan had gone to Kanutia Bazar for buying something in exchange of the fake notes.
At one stage, the local people challenged them and informed the matter to police.
