Chittagong district police in separate raids arrested two drug traders with 9,000 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets from Chunuti area under Lohagara upazila of the district and Shah Amanat bridge area in the city Saturday morning.
The arrestees were identified as Delwar Hossain, 40, hailed from Cox’s bazar district and Aysha Begum, 35, hailed from Borguna district.
Police also recovered a private car from the possession of Delwar.
Lohagara thana police on secret information raided a private car coming from Cox’s Bazar at Chunuti area under Lohagara upazila of the district at 11 am today and arrested its driver Delwar with 8,000 pieces of Yaba tablets, said Naimul Hasan, additional police super of Chittagong district police.
Bakalia thana police on secret information raided a passenger bus coming from Cox’s Bazar at Shah Amanat bridge area under Bakalia thana at 11 am early yesterday and arrested Aysha Begum with 1,000 pieces of Yaba tablets, said Mohammad Mohsin, Officer-in-Charge of Bakalia police station.
