Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport arrested two air passengers and recovered 62 gold bars worth about Tk 3.5 crore from their possessions on Tuesday.
The arrestees were identified as Dulal Hossain, 34, and Shahidur Rahman, 46.
Contacted, Ehteshamul Haque, a senior ASP at the Airport Armed Police, said the duo landed at the airport from an aircraft of Air Arabia from Dubai around 10:30 am. He said members of customs intelligence started following them for their suspicious movement soon after they came out from the flight.
As they reached the canopy area, the customs officials challenged them and recovered the gold bars weighing about 7.23 kg searching their bodies, said Ehteshamul Haque. A case was filed.
