The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) in separate drives in Chittagong city arrested two alleged drug peddlers with 4,000 yaba pills worth Tk 12,00,000 on Sunday. The arrestees are Mohammad Noor, 18, son of Hafez Ahmed; and Mohammad Sharif, 19, son of Mohammad Elias — both from Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar, said Shamim Ahamed, deputy director (DD) of DNC in Chittagong zone.
Noor was arrested on Iqbal Road in Fishery Ghat area with 2,000 yaba pills concealed in the sole of his footwear while Sharif was arrested in Notun Bridge area with 2,000 pills hidden in the similar fashion, Shamim said.
The arrestees later said they worked together and they were taking the drugs to Dhaka, the DD said, adding that two cases were filed against them.
