Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three youths with 30,000 pieces of contraband yaba tablets after searching a passenger’s bus at Kotwali in the city recently.
The arrested were identified as bus driver Golam Mostafa,54, two passengers Refit, 32 and Jubair, 25.
4 carjackers held :The Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) claimed to have arrested four carjackers in Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar in last two days.
The arrestees are Md Yusuf alias Ishak, 60, Liton Sen, 34, Haider Ali alias Manju, 34, and Nurul Alam, 23, said the DB officials, adding that they recovered four stolen microbuses and two cars from different garages in the two districts.
The gang of eight used to hijack four-wheelers from across the country and take those to the garages where they changed the chassis and colours of the vehicles, said Humayun Kabir, additional deputy commissioner of DB (west zone).
The law enforcers are conducting drives to arrest the other members.
