Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two men for stockpiling some 300,000 or 3 lakh government textbooks, and selling them illegally
at Goalchamot in the Sadar upazila on Friday morning.
Tipped off, RAB members arrested M Sarfaraz Sheikh, 40, and Sheikh Ramjan, 60, in front of a warehouse in the morning, said M Rois Uddin, additional superintendent of police of RAB-8 of Faridpur.
Based on their information, the elite force members conducted a search in the warehouse and recovered the textbooks, Rois added. Later, the arrestees were produced before the court of executive magistrate M Matiur Rahman, who sentenced the duo to a month’s imprisonment each for stockpiling textbooks and selling those illegally. The textbooks were sent to the office of the Deputy Commissioner of the district.
